Nine Year Cycle
Your personal cycles and how to interpret them.
The Law of Cycles
There are certain universal laws governing nature and our lives. One such law is the Law of Cycles.
Have you noticed how many things in nature are round? the sun; the moon; most
planets; flowers; birds nests; water drops; etc. Many events are cyclical. There is the
ebb and flow of waves; expansion and contraction; breathing in, breathing out.
We take for granted the day and night cycle. The rotating of the Earth on its own axis
gives us the day and night. The moon circling the Earth gives us the tides of the
oceans. It effects the reproductive cycles of many species. Women from their teenage
years on, know all too well the impact of cycles in their lives.
Gardeners have long understood the effects of working with cycles, the new moon,
the full moon, etc, to ensure successful germination of seeds and quality of harvest.
They work in harmony with the cycles to ensure the best results, the best crops.
We all live every year through at least four seasons, evident through the changes in
climate, as a result of the rotation of the Earth around the Sun. This seasonal cycle
creates the changes in conditions that favours new life, grows, fruiting, the autumn
and the dormant winter, resting time.
Your Personal Nine-Year Cycle
There is a time for every purpose. There is a more favourable time and a least
favourable time for everything. This is true for thoughts or actions as well.
Just as you would wait until early spring to plant new seeds, taking advantage of the
rise in pulsing energy of the warming spring, so it is for thoughts and actions. A
thought or actions initiated in favourable conditions of rising energy will go a lot
further than if it is initiated in a descending phase of a cycle where energy is
decreasing and coming to a rest or stillness.
One such cycle that affects our personal lives is the nine-year cycle. I am not sure if
anyone knows for sure what causes this cycle but it is easy to map its effect on our
lives. Knowing about these cycles and learning to work in harmony with them will
make your efforts and endeavours travel along more easily. You will be aligning your
life with the Universe and its power, like riding a wave into shore rather than
swimming against the tide, you will feel empowered.
An awareness of the existence and effects of these cycles on people around you will
also help you to be more understanding of what they are experiencing and be more
accepting towards them. As we are often at a different stage of the cycle to those we
share our lives with, we need to accommodate their needs as well as attending to our
own.
This wisdom I am sure will make a significant difference to your life, empowering your
efforts and creating more harmony around you.
As the song says “there is a time for every purpose under heaven”. Unless you are
aware of your personal nine-year cycles and what each year is about, life can become
extremely laborious and frustrating. Your endeavours will yield little results, no matter
how much effort you put into them.
How to map out your nine-year cycle
The nine-year cycle is part of numerology and an individual’s cycle can be mapped out after calculation of the individual’s birth number. i.e. the sum of the digits that make up one’s date of birth, to arrive at a single digit.
To arrive at your birth number, simply add each digit of your date of birth to arrive at a single
number.
Calculation of Birth Number:
__ +__ + __ + __ + __ + __ + __ + __ = __ __ Then: __ + __ = __
(d d m m y y y y) = x x x x
An individual starts in the year of a cycle equal to theirbirth number. To calculate what year of the personal nine-year cycle anindividual’s life is in the current year, you must do the same calculation asfor your birth number but substituting the current year instead of your birthyear.
Interpreting your each year of your Nine-Years
Year 1. Creativity and New Beginnings
The first year is the year to have your goals clear in your mind. It is the time to
be confident about starting something new, perhaps retraining, relocating, or a
new venture. This is a time for planning and map making. This is the year for
sowing a new seed. Winter is over. It is early spring.
Year 2. Cooperation and Development
The second year is a year of cooperation, working and interacting with others. It
is a time to define your role in the new activity, and your relationship with others
invovled. It is a time to build relationships, support networks and alliances that
will benefit you in the coming years. It is a time for patiently gathering
information and taking care of details. The season grows warmer.
Year 3. Expression, Sensitivity and Expansion
The third year sees the first sign of development of the sprouting seed. However
it is still delicate and vulnerable. You may experience some doubt about your
ability to succeed. Your vibrations are high with excitement at the potentiality, on
one hand, and feeling vulnerable on the other. You see and experience more as
your horizons widen. It is equivalent to late spring.
Year 4. Process and Steady Work
This year is critical to your success. It is a time to build a strong foundation. It is
a time to resist the temptation of trying to show off results, a time of self-
control. It is a time to consolidate our position, review your preparations to
ensure they are complete. It is a time to check that nothing has been
overlooked. It is a time to get your house in order. The seed you planted is
growing stronger; its roots are reaching down deeper. The time for harvest will
soon be here.
Year 5. Freedom, Choices and Results
If you have put in the work and strong foundations in the first four years, the
fifth year is the year where results start to show through. It is a time of
opportunity. You will have many more options and choices come your way. The
summer harvest has begun.

The sixth year is a year of abundance and of sharing this abundance. It is a time
to exercise your sense of duty and give back to our family and your community.
It is a time to appreciate everything that has led up to this point. A time to
appreciate what is happening now and what lies ahead. It is late summer and
times are good.
Year 7. Trust, Gratitude and Understanding
This year is a time to be grateful to the Universe for the first 6 years that have
past. It is a time to appreciate on the higher level. It is a time to look back and
understand that all challenges and obstacles have had a part in contributing to
the now. It is a time to appreciate each of the years that have come before and
to be grateful for it all. Think of it as the autumn (fall) of the cycle.
Year 8. Abundance Power and Opportunities
The eighth year is the your power year. A time to reap abundant rewards
resulting from all the previous years. The quality of everything you have done in
the past 7 years will be reflected in the quality of the rewards now. You will
receive recognition for your achievements. It is time for big decisions.
Opportunities for advancement will present themselves. The wind of change
begins to blow. Autumn is almost over.
Year 9. Reflection, Wisdom and Detachment
The ninth year is the year of completion. It is a time to reflect and gain wisdom
from everything that this cycle has brought to you. It is a time to let go,
understanding that all cycles come to an end. It is a time to exercise
detachment. This year is a year of inner peace, stillness and silence. It is a time
of resting and non- activity. It is winter. You wait for the light of spring to come
again for a new beginning.
